Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) Mechanical Engineer – Entry Level

The Role

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer - Entry Level to join our team and build novel Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) from the ground up.

  • Work within a small team of multidisciplinary engineers and specialists throughout the life of AUV design and integration efforts
  • Perform mechanical engineering system design and development
  • Perform structural analysis and reporting on critical mechanical systems
  • Perform AUV, subsystem, and 3rd party component integration, test, and debug
  • Participate in ground-up AUV build and regular maintenance/upgrades
  • Create and implement redlines from integration and test phases
  • Conduct offshore AUV testing when required (typically single day trips with occasional multi-day deployments)

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering and a passion for hardware development
  • Experience with SolidWorks
  • 0-3 years experience designing, testing, and debugging mechanical systems
  • Extremely organized and detail-oriented

  • Experience with subsea operations at sea
  • Experience with design for manufacturing
  • Experience designing and operating equipment lifting and rigging for at sea operations
  • Experience with structural FEA analysis
  • Experience with thermal analysis and simulations
  • Experience with CFD analysis and simulations
  • Experience in rapid prototyping and additive manufacturing technologies
  • Experience working offshore

Clearance Requirements

Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire. The ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance is required. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within on our projects, U.S. citizenship is required.
